Muhammad Shizan Rahim

Managing Director

A young visionary and charismatic leader who has played a key role in Medimoc's strategic growth. Shizan developed an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age, as a child he was fascinated by the business affairs of his father, during holidays he would spend his time at his father's company to explore different departments to learn about business. With his strategic thinking, vision and leadership, Medimoc made a corporate turnaround and emerged as a leading player after the company was acquired privately. He also takes keen interest in the social activities of the company.

Sheniz Rahim

Sales & Marketing Director

A major contributor to the strategic planning and implementation of sales processes and goals. She joined the company at a very young age to give much needed impetus and youthful vigor in its quest to opening and improving routes to market along with products and services across Africa. She has transformed Medimoc’s Mozambique business to one of the best performing markets for the company. Her keen focus on new products and go to market strategy has made Medimoc a leading player in a very short period. sales processes and goals of Medimoc Group

History & Strategy

Medimoc was set up in 1977 in Mozambique by the Mozambican government to Import and Distribute medicines, and it was one of the biggest successes of the socialist era. With the end of the war in 1992, donors and international finance agencies arrived and imposed a neo-liberal agenda. In 1997 Medimoc imported 24 Million USD worth of medication and in 1998 Mozambique was required to allow private imports of pharmaceuticals. Medimoc was marginalized by donors who were paying for many of the imported pharmaceuticals. The company was 2/3 owned by the state and 1/3 by its employees. In 2019 the state holding company IGEPE announced that Medimoc is up for sale. The proposed sale marks the successful end of a 40 year campaign to turn medicines supply totally to the private sector.

In 2021 Medimoc was acquired privately and is a disrupter in the healthcare space bringing a whole new strategy and vision to the industry, which led Medimoc back to its former glory.

Our strategy is to bring about change and innovation to the healthcare industry in markets where its continuously evolving. We strive to always be ahead of the curve by being a company that is disruptive, we set the trends and quality in the market.

Our strategy has evolved as our business has grown, matured and diversified into new healthcare sectors and regions over the last years. Starting as a bulk pharmaceutical trading concern, in the 1990’s encouraged by the liberalized pharmaceutical regime of the then government of Mozambique.

Medimoc strives for self-reliance in the healthcare sector and has drawn ambitious plans to set up world class projects in the healthcare industry. Medimoc has almost single handedly taken Mozambique to self-sufficiency and is expanding rapidly across Africa.
